I’ve come to the conclusion that all song writers are solo songwriters. You may have a writing partner but typically you will each have your own specialty – your own wheelhouse. Or at least, if you don’t, there will be conflict.

Take Elton John and Bernie Taupin, or perhaps Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice, for instance. In these instances, you have a writing partnership which works, because each is clear what their roles
